JAPAN-LAW TWIN QUARTZ crystals of this size and quality are very rare. They sometimes look like rabbit ears, although in this case they're a bit lopsided. This piece comes from the Mundo Nuevo Mine in Huamachuco, Sanchez Carrion Prov., La Libertad Dept., Peru. The twinned crystals join at an angle of 89ẃ - not quite a right angle. The twinned crystal is a see-though clear and lustrous. The terminations are both complete and there is no damage to the specimen. I purchased this superb example of this rare and highly sought-after form of quartz at the Tucson Gem Rock and Mineral Show from a dealer who flew in from Madagascar.
