Here is a specimen featuring a 1.4" black (schorl) tourmaline crystal from Namibia.  The crystal has a trigonal termination, and is a true jet black color.  It stands up nicely on a matrix of ivory microcline feldspar crystals, and there is a strong contrast between the microcline and the tourmaline. This is an attractive specimen of this lovely mineral, and so bright and shiny it seems to jump out off the shelf. There is no damage.
