PYROMORPHITE has been a hot item recently, with the arrival of the exciting new Chinese material. This one comes from an old-time, all-American classic locality: the Chester County Mine, Phoenixville, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The mine was originally worked from 1847-1854, then reopened in 1918 only to close in 1920. Of course the dumps have been dug and re-dug many times, so there are very few good Phoenixville pyromorphite specimens around now, and bery fine pieces like this one are very scarce. We purchased this classic one-of-a-kind specimen from a Pennsylvania collector at the East Coast Gem Rock and Mienral Show this year.
