Here is an unusual specimen for New England: two titanium minerals, rutile and ilmenite set on a quartz and schistose matrix. The rutile is lustrous and dark red, in sharp crystals that are shiny and striated; the ilmenite is dark silver, and occurs in a flattened sheet.  This is an outstanding specimen from this old, little-known locality in Vermont, which I collected myself in 1999.
