In 2011, miners hit a pocket of ROSASITE in SELENITE at the Bou Bekker Mine, Toussit, Oujda-Angad Province, Oriental Region, Morocco. At the Tucson Gem, Rock and Mineral Show in 2012, the Moroccan dealers all had displays of this new material. The quality was mostly rather poor, with only a few of the crystal globes scattered sparsely on matrix. Also, they were calling it chrysocolla, which is no surprise because both minerals have the same rich turquoise blue color. Fortunately, a German dealer I've known for years, and who is very knowledgeable and well respected, had done his homework on this new stuff. He tested some samples and confirmed it was indeed rosasite, not chrysocolla. Once again, at the Denver Gem, Rock and Mineral Show, he had the best specimens, with heavy coverage of the sparkling crystal globes of selenite over rosasite.
