This specimen is an excellent example of malachite forming as a pseudomorph of azurite. The malachite is a deep forest green, with a slightly velvety surface, and in this piece the malachite has completely replaced an earlier growth of azurite, while still keeping the precise shape of the azurite crystals. The area in the Milpillas Mine from which this fine specimen was taken was mined out a few years back, so there won't be any more.
